We have selected 6 artists to show at underground for 'end of the world' - the line up should look something like this - Sarah Locke casting a nostalgic eye over aging and defunct technologies creating an installation and sound piece that provokes a sense of melancholy. Sharon Haward responding to cataclysmic weather conditions and a world order characterised by chaos and disorder, whilst Scott Robertson reflects on the nature of labour expended on work that says nothing through an intricate and detailed drawing installation. Maff Littlemore explores digital technologies through sampling, remix, collage and code to conjure up a childlike vision of the future and Alex Casper Kline creates installations that centre on the conceptual apocalypse of everyday life.

inviting artists

Underground has put out a project description inviting artists to submit proposals for 'end of the world'. Used a range of media - listings (Fabrica, Hastings Creatives) social networking (facebook) and invited artists within the region that work with installation and or subjects related to the theme. Only concern is that is all very tight and funding won't be confirmed until end August so having to plough on regardless.

project

Underground co-founders Sharon Haward and Sarah Locke are considering an ‘end of the world’ scenario – will it all end in a bang, slowly fizzle out in a haze of smouldering and toxic debris or be swept away by alien weather systems while we sit watching TV ? Join artists Sharon Haward and Sarah Locke, along with other selected artists, and test your own theories whilst viewing specially created installations, moving image work and performance pieces.Follow their progress via this blog.
